Electric Wheelchairs

Which Power Chair Is Right for Me?

Do I want a simple, affordable chair for everyday use?

YES → Consider the Journey Air. It’s a straightforward choice for home, senior living, appointments, restaurants and shopping. It offers up to 10 miles of range and a 300-lb. weight capacity without paying for features you may not need.

Keep in mind: The seat is relatively compact. If you want more room or expect to spend longer periods in your chair, consider the Air Elite Max.

Is lightweight, easy transport my biggest priority?

YES → Consider the Journey Air Elite. At just 29 lbs. with the battery installed, it folds in one piece with no disassembly or pieces to put back together. It’s an excellent choice if you frequently load your chair into a car or travel with it.

Keep in mind: The Air Elite has a 240-lb. weight capacity and compact seating. If you need more room or capacity, consider the Air Elite Max.

Do I want lightweight portability but need more room and comfort?

YES → Consider the Journey Air Elite Max. It gives you 19.75" between the armrests, a taller backrest, memory-foam cushioning and a 330-lb. weight capacity, while the carbon-fiber chair itself weighs just 24.25 lbs. without the batteries and cushions.

Also consider the Max if: You expect to spend longer days in your chair. Its dual batteries provide up to 19.8 miles of range, making it an excellent choice for vacations, sightseeing and longer outings.

Will I use my chair on grass, gravel or other outdoor surfaces?

YES → Consider the Journey Zoomer. Its rugged all-terrain frame, solid puncture-proof tires and 12° climbing capability make it a better choice for pavement, grass, gravel and moderate inclines. It also has a roomy 19" seat and 300-lb. weight capacity.

Also great for transport: The Zoomer folds to just 11.8" thick for most car trunks, or it can be separated into manageable pieces with the heaviest piece weighing only 19 lbs.

Do I want a faster, highly maneuverable chair for getting around?

YES → Consider the Journey Zinger. With speeds up to 6 mph and a tight 24" turning radius, the Zinger is noticeably faster than the Air models and exceptionally maneuverable. Its unique two-lever control system lets you steer and turn quickly without a traditional joystick.

Keep in mind: At 42 lbs. with the battery, it isn't our lightest transport option, and its 16.5" seat is fairly narrow. If you need more room or weight capacity, one of our roomier power chairs—or a larger mobility scooter—may be a better fit.

Which chair will be easiest for me to get into a car?

It depends on what is easiest for you:

Air Elite → Best for simple one-piece transport. It weighs just 29 lbs. with the battery installed, folds compactly, and doesn't need to be taken apart.

Air Elite Max → Best if you need more room but still want a very light lift. Remove the batteries and the chair itself is about 24.25 lbs. It folds without disassembly, but its folded footprint is larger than the Air Elite.

Zoomer → Best if you'd rather lift smaller pieces. Fold it for the trunk, or separate it into a few manageable pieces—the heaviest piece is only 19 lbs.

Zinger → Foldable, but heavier. It folds to about 2' × 3' × 10" and weighs approximately 42 lbs. with the battery, so it may require more lifting strength.

Questions We Hear Most Often

Power wheelchairs like the Aurora Stride Elite Folding Power Wheelchair are designed to provide a more upright, supportive seating position with precise joystick control, making them ideal for individuals who need greater postural support throughout the day. Mobility scooters, by contrast, typically feature a tiller-style steering column and are well-suited for those who have some upper body strength and prefer a more open, vehicle-like feel. Our team is always happy to help you determine which option best fits your lifestyle and comfort needs.

Yes — the Aurora Stride Elite Folding Power Wheelchair is designed with portability in mind, featuring a folding frame that makes it easier to load into a vehicle trunk or backseat without the need for a dedicated ramp or lift. This makes it a wonderful choice for individuals who want the freedom to travel, visit family, or enjoy outings without sacrificing comfort or support. We encourage you to review the product specifications to ensure it aligns with your vehicle and storage needs.

Choosing the right power wheelchair comes down to a few key factors — daily usage environment, weight capacity, battery range, and the level of physical support needed. We recommend considering whether your loved one will primarily use the chair indoors, outdoors, or both, and how frequently it may need to be transported. If you have questions, our support team is here to help you navigate the right fit with care and confidence.
