Can I take the Zinger on an airplane?
Yes. The Zinger is FAA-compliant for commercial air travel, and its lithium-ion battery is approved for air travel. Because individual airlines may have their own procedures for mobility equipment and batteries, we recommend confirming requirements with your airline 24–48 hours before your flight.
How far can the Zinger travel on one charge?
The Zinger can travel up to 8 miles on a single charge. For longer outings or travel, a charged spare battery can provide additional range.
Does the Zinger have adjustable speeds and reverse?
Yes. The Zinger has three forward speed settings with speeds up to 6 mph, plus reverse. Lower speeds are useful indoors and in busier areas, while the highest setting is better suited to open spaces.
Do I need both hands to drive the Zinger?
Yes. The Zinger's patented dual-lever steering requires both hands while driving. This gives the Zinger its responsive handling and exceptionally tight turning radius, but it also means you won't have a hand free to carry or handle something while the chair is moving. If you need one-handed operation, a joystick-controlled power chair may be a better choice.
Is the Zinger a good choice if I have limited strength or control in one arm or hand?
Probably not. The Zinger's dual-lever steering requires you to operate both steering levers while driving. If one hand or arm is significantly stronger or easier to control than the other, a joystick-controlled power chair that allows the joystick to be positioned on your stronger side may be a better choice.
Can the Zinger be manually pushed?
Yes. The Zinger can be manually pushed when the power is off or the brakes are released, making it easier to maneuver short distances without using the motor.
Should I keep a spare battery on hand?
A spare battery can be useful for longer outings and travel. A charged second battery can be swapped in quickly, effectively doubling your available range.
Where can I use the Zinger?
The Zinger is designed for indoor and outdoor use and can handle surfaces including carpet, sidewalks, grass and packed dirt. Its 24" zero-turn radius is particularly useful for navigating doorways, furniture and other tight spaces.
How much does the Zinger weigh, and what is its weight capacity?
The Zinger weighs 38 lbs. without the battery and 42 lbs. with the battery installed. It supports a maximum user weight of 275 lbs.
Is the Zinger a medical device or wheelchair?
No. The Zinger is classified as a personal electric vehicle, not a medical device or wheelchair. It is not intended for medical purposes or to provide mobility for someone restricted to a sitting position.
Is the Zinger FSA or HSA eligible?
The Zinger is eligible for reimbursement through most FSA or HSA plans. Because individual plans can vary, we recommend confirming eligibility with your plan administrator before purchasing. Curated Golden Years can provide a receipt for your records.
Does the Zinger come with a warranty?
Yes. The Zinger includes standard warranty coverage on the frame, mechanical components and motor. Extended coverage may also be available for certain components.
