Five independent adjustments make the difference. Unlike traditional recliners that move the back and footrest together, the Ultimate gives you individual control over the backrest, footrest, lumbar support, headrest, and patented Twilight seat cradle. Its advanced seat-tilt mechanism changes the angle of the entire seat, allowing a more complete zero-gravity position than conventional reclining alone. Adjustable lumbar and headrest support provide even more flexibility for finding a comfortable position while reading, relaxing, or sleeping.

1. What makes the Ultimate 5-Zone different from the Deluxe 2-Zone?
Both models provide power lift assistance, fully flat reclining, heat, massage, and the ability to sleep in the chair. The 2-Zone independently adjusts the backrest and footrest. The Ultimate 5-Zone adds three more independent adjustments: lumbar support, headrest positioning, and full seat tilt. It also includes four programmable position presets and a more extensive warranty.
2. What is special about the Ultimate's zero-gravity positioning?
The Ultimate has a dedicated seat-tilt motor that allows the entire seating surface to change angle. Rather than simply reclining your back and raising your legs, it can position your body with your knees elevated above your heart. This allows a more complete zero-gravity-style posture and gives you additional options for distributing pressure and finding a comfortable resting position.
3. What is the Twilight Seat Cradle?
The patented Twilight Seat Cradle is Journey's adjustable seat-tilt mechanism. It changes the angle of the seat itself, working with the independently adjustable backrest and footrest to create additional reclining and supported resting positions.
4. Can I sleep in the Ultimate 5-Zone every night?
Yes. The Ultimate is designed for regular overnight sleeping as well as daytime relaxation. It reclines to a fully flat position, and its independent headrest, lumbar, and seat-tilt adjustments allow you to customize your sleeping position. Whether it is suitable as your primary sleeping surface depends on your individual comfort and support needs.
5. How do the programmable positions work?
The backlit remote includes four presets: Sit, TV, Zero Gravity, and Rejuvenate. Each button moves the chair to a programmed position, and the settings can be customized to your preferences. This allows you to return to favorite positions without adjusting each motor individually every time.
6. Where are the heat and massage features located?
The heating system provides warmth to the lower-back area. Zoned vibration massage operates through the backrest and lower-leg areas. These comfort features can be used while relaxing or reclining.
7. Does the Ultimate 5-Zone help me stand up?
Yes. The power lift mechanism gradually raises and tilts the chair forward to assist you in transitioning from sitting to standing. Users should still be able to safely support themselves when standing.
8. How much space do I need for the Ultimate 5-Zone?
The Ultimate measures approximately 38 inches wide, 43.5 inches deep, and 48 inches high when seated, and extends to 79 inches fully reclined. Journey's specifications list 24 inches of rear clearance, while separate room-planning guidance indicates 26 inches. Until confirmed, we recommend allowing at least 26 inches behind the chair, plus adequate space in front for the extended footrest.
9. What happens if the power goes out?
The Ultimate includes a lithium-ion battery backup that connects to the chair's power system. When properly charged and functioning, it provides emergency power to return the chair to a seated position during an outage. The backup is intended for emergency repositioning, not extended operation without electricity.
10. What colors and upholstery are available?
The Ultimate 5-Zone is available exclusively in Journey's premium MiraLux faux leather upholstery. Choose from Light Gray, Saddle, or Chocolate. MiraLux is designed to resist scratches and stains and incorporates ventilation for added seating comfort.
11. What is included with White Glove Delivery?
White Glove Delivery & Setup is included in the purchase price. A delivery appointment is coordinated with you, and the team brings the chair inside, unpacks it, places it in your selected room, and removes the packaging. Please make sure the pathway and chosen location are clear and ready before delivery.
12. Can I return the Ultimate 5-Zone if it doesn't fit or isn't comfortable?
No. Because each Perfect Sleep Chair is individually built to your selected configuration, it cannot be returned. If your chair arrives damaged or defective, it will be repaired or replaced at no cost according to the manufacturer's policy. We strongly encourage you to review measurements and ask any questions before ordering.
13. What warranty comes with the Ultimate 5-Zone?
The Ultimate includes a lifetime manufacturer warranty on the frame, lift mechanism, and reclining mechanism, with labor subsidized for three years. Electrical parts are covered for three years, with labor subsidized for one year.
During years four through seven, replacement electrical parts receive prorated discounts from the manufacturer's suggested retail price: 35% in year four, 25% in year five, 15% in year six, and 5% in year seven.
The warranty applies to the original purchaser and is subject to the manufacturer's terms and exclusions. Batteries are not covered, and certain service, transportation, and handling charges may be the customer's responsibility.
14. What is the maximum user weight and recommended height?
The Ultimate supports users up to 375 lbs. and is recommended for adults approximately 5'4" to 6'4" tall. Seat width, depth, and personal fit should also be considered.
15. Is the Ultimate 5-Zone eligible for FSA or HSA reimbursement?
Journey indicates that many of its products may qualify for FSA or HSA reimbursement. Eligibility depends on your benefits plan and any required documentation. Please confirm with your plan administrator before purchasing. Journey does not process Medicare or other insurance claims directly.
